Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! Remember Bastrop? | Texas Monthly http://www.texasmonthly.com/burka-blog/jade-helm-and-second-battle-bastrop#.VUOFDmKrBPY.twitter

R.G. has a take on the conspiracy theorists. Here is a bit:

Sorry, Governor Abbott. If the U.S. military wanted to take over Texas, it could be done in half a day right now without the guise of a training exercise in Bastrop. Those who say Abbott is feeding a state of paranoia by tasking state guardsmen to monitor Jade Helm are correct.

Former Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, in an op-ed that appeared in The Dallas Morning News, wrote that Texans are doing the military a disservice by casting aspersions on them.

Here is all of R.G.’s take: http://www.texasmonthly.com/burka-blog/jade-helm-and-second-battle-bastrop#.VUOFDmKrBPY.twitter.

When Commentary used to work for a Governor, I don’t recall us having a military advisor.

You have to wonder how the discussions went in the Governor’s Office before they came up with this move. It now has me thinking if they now have a Situation Room over at the Capitol.

Look at the bright side. At least the state doesn’t have a nuclear weapons program.

It kind of reminds me of the “Viva Max!” movie of 1969. Don’t be surprised if Seth Rogen and James Franco make a movie about the Governor going up against the most powerful military force in the world.

They would probably call it “The Battle for Buc-ee’s!”

The ‘Stros are eight games above .500. When was the last time we were eight games above .500?

Local Latino activist Johnny Mata said at a recent press conference that the Harris County Sheriff was doing a good job. I guess that is good for the Sheriff.

A highly respected local Latino politico recently told me that the Sheriff shouldn’t run for H-Town Mayor. The politico told me the latest jail mess isn’t helping the Sheriff.

I am not going to get into the latest rumors on who will be running and when they will be running and the other rumors on who is digging up and dishing out the political dirt.

I wasn’t at The Yard last night. I snagged an invite to the Texans draft party. It was OK. In the grub department, the ‘Stros throw a better party.

Somebody needs to ask the Governor if Obamacare is so horrible, how come the state’s uninsured rate has gone down.

Best two records in the AL this morning? Royals (15-7) and Astros (15-7).

The ‘Stros finished the 2008 season eight games above .500 of course.

The team is up in the power rankings. They are getting national run. Only 19,000 plus showed up last night.
