Playing with Lives

A year ago, this evening, we won the two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia. It certainly has been a long year.

You know that arsehole Gov. Greg Abbott is playing games with the lives of National Guard troops when both Beto O’Rourke and Allen West call him out.  All GOPers who support Abbott sending troops to the border are complicit.  I agree with Beto. This is all about scoring points with the far-right wing voters.  Sad. Deadly.

I have said it before. This arsehole is the worse Texas governor in my lifetime.

Speaking of gutless blunders. Donald Trump called off his counter programming press conference that was supposed to be held tomorrow, the one-year anniversary of the insurrection that Trump caused. He heard from GOP leaders who told him it was a bad idea.

This is the headline to the lead story in today’s Chron:

Fast-moving omicron catches Texas flat-footed as feds move to bolster testing, treatment supplies

Here is the start of the story:

The highly contagious omicron variant has left Texas scrambling to keep up with new infections, overwhelming local and state officials as they look to the federal government for aid.

The new variant is spreading at lightning speed, infecting people at a rate seven times higher than the delta mutation before it and creating more breakthrough cases among vaccinated individuals. Within a month, Texas has skyrocketed from an average of less than 5,000 new cases per day to more than 25,000, and COVID hospitalizations have more than doubled in a 10-day window.

We shouldn’t be in this situation. Abbott and other GOPers are to blame pure and simple. Everyone should be vaccinated by now.  The GOP has been reckless.

Former Cong. John Bryant is running for the Texas House in a district up in Dallas County. He was a member of the Texas House in the 1970s and 1980s before he won a seat in Congress.  For those who don’t know, Bryant was born down the street in Brazoria County. Lake Jackson to be exact.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was re-nominated for the ICE director position.  Good luck.
