Better Advice

Yesterday, Commentary said this about the H-Town Mayor, the mess at City Hall, and the former housing director:

When is he going to put out the info on the former housing director?

There was hearing conducted yesterday by the H-Town City Council joint budget and housing committees.  Here is the headline on the hearing from the hard copy of today’s Chron:

Housing officials depict program in crisis

Here is from the article:

City housing officials on Thursday painted a grim financial picture for Houston’s Hurricane Harvey home repair program, a situation Mayor Sylvester Turner has suggested helps explain his former housing director’s recent accusation that Turner steered affordable housing funds to a developer.

Over the course of almost three hours, Interim Housing Director Keith Bynam and Chief Financial Officer Temika Jones told a joint meeting of City Council’s housing and budget committees that the department faces tens of millions of dollars in potential financial liabilities for money it already has spent, outlining a presentation they said they gave the mayor last week

I really don’t get who is advising the Mayor on this issue.  Why would you want your staff to tell a city council hearing that one of your departments was in the tank?  Why would you want to admit that one of your departments was being run into the ground on your watch? I don’t get it. Who thinks this a good idea in the Mayor’s Office?

We all know the racist arsehole Gov. Greg Abbott is a moron. Let’s see now. For the past few legislative sessions, the GOP led legislature has budgeted hundreds of millions of dollars for border security.  In the past few months, the idiot Abbott has started rounding up migrants along the border on trespassing charges.  Guess what? It costs money to detain the migrants.  Abbott has asked FEMA to declare the border an emergency and has asked the federal government for reimbursement for an emergency Abbott himself has created. What are we doing with the border security money?

FEMA said no way.  Abbott is a moron for sure.

If you were watching the Rays and Red Sox in the other ALDS last night, you saw a first. Randy Arozarena was the first player to ever have a dinger and steal home in a post season game.  The steal at home was simply beautiful.

Prior to the start of the game over at The Yard yesterday, Astros owner Jim Crane said we would try to sign Carlos Correa and keep him in the orange and blue. He had to say that.  I don’t think it will happen though.

The team certainly looked impressive yesterday in front of a national audience. Lance McCullers, Jr. was outstanding and Michael Brantley and Yordan Alvarez led the offense.

Let’s do it again! For the H!
