On Afghanistan

 Watching the rapid collapse of the Afghanistan government and military tells me that we should have left the place once we demolished al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden.   

It has been years now since our government has explained to us what we were doing in Afghanistan and what was our end game or our goal.  It is sad, but that is what it is today. 

This was a Republican led mess that President Obama could not get us out of. The federal government – both Republicans and Democrats from both the White House and Congress have been selling us a phony bill of goods on Afghanistan. I give President Joe Biden credit for finally pulling open the curtain. Now this. No if, ands or buts. 

Manuel Barrera sent this in on State Sen. Carol Alvarado post filibuster: 

If she is ready to leave politics behind, a run for governor would be okay. I don’t think she would make it out of the primary, but what do I know. 

I remember when Rick Noriega ran for state-wide office. 

She is running for reelection in 2022. 

I would have thought that the Texas Supreme Court would have gone for saving lives rather than sticking their noses up the arse of the cowardly Gov. Greg Abbott.  I guess the entire Texas GOP is ok with children getting COVID-19. 

The Chron bills me every four weeks for the daily hard copy subscription. They just sent me a letter this past weekend letting me know that their subscription rates are going up. It is an increase of a little over 8%. Oh, well. 

Astros catcher Martín Maldonado is 35 today.  Happy Birthday, Machete! 

We took the weekend series in Anaheim.  We are now in KC for four.
