Chron columnist Erica Grieder wrote yesterday about the University of Texas leaving the Big 12 and how state legislators were reacting.  Legislators, mostly GOP legislators, are worried about the economic impact on universities like Baylor, TCU, and Texas Tech.  Grieder points out that legislators didn’t say squat when Texas A&M left the Big 12. 

Commentary is not going to shed tears for the folks in Fort Worth, Lubbock and Waco.  Get a life.  There are more important things out there. 

I was watching former New Jersey governor Chris Christie yesterday on one of the news shows yesterday. He kind of blamed New York governor Andrew Cuomo’s problems on serving a third term. Christie said from his experience, once you get into your second term, you kind of run out of good talent.  That is a lame excuse.  Maybe for dumbsh_ts like Christie you run out of good talent.   

The H-Town Mayor has decided that he is not going to put any charter amendment changes on the ballot this November.  That is his call. Of course, he has to realize that part of his legacy will now be the firefighter mess. He won with the support of the firefighters, and he will leave with a fiscal mess that his successor will inherit. That’s sad.  

More companies are mandating the COVID-19 vaccine.  Good.  Texas is one of the raging hot spots in the country. 10 GOP state legislators reportedly have tested positive for COVID-19.  Sigh.  Why are we even having special legislative sessions? 

We lost three out of four to the Twins.  Michael Brantley, Alec Bregman, and Yuli Gurriel are dinged up. We have today off. Good.
