Dean Martin

Commentary doesn’t know what to make of West Virginia U.S. Senator Joe Manchin.  We obviously need him because we need fifty Democratic U.S. Senators.  You have to figure he knows he is being played by his GOP colleagues.  What is Manchin’s end game? I guess we have to keep hoping.

Is Gov. Greg Abbott going to follow through and veto the budget of the Texas Legislature?

The Texas GOP primary race for AG is going to be about pandering to Donald Trump.  AG Ken Paxton said this past weekend that he blocked mail ballots this past November and that is why Trump won Texas.  That’s news to me and you.

This morning “Today” celebrated 10 years of Savannah Guthrie co-anchoring.  They called it Savannah-versary.  I was wondering if they were going to omit a certain former co-anchor.  They did show a brief shot of Matt Lauer, but he didn’t say anything.

CNN just ran a series on late night TV shows, and I have to say they did an excellent job.  We started out with just one late night talk show and now we have a bunch.  We have some on now that I didn’t even know were airing.

Dean Martin was born 104 years ago today.  He left us 26 years ago.  Some remember his career singing and his TV show.  He had tunes like “Everybody Loves Somebody”, “That’s Amore” and “Houston.”  He teamed up early in his career with Jerry Lewis, and they did some movies together and some live appearances.  Remember the Rat Pack with Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop and Sammy Davis, Jr.?

TCM will be airing Dean Martin movies today including the original “Ocean’s Eleven”, “4 for Texas” and “Rio Bravo”, one of my favorite westerns.

I would have added “Sons of Katie Elder”, “Rough Night in Jerico” and of course, “Airport.”

We took two out of three in Buffalo.  We have today off and start a series at Fenway tomorrow.
