Sooner or later a major Democrat will step forward and announce for Texas Governor. The sooner the better.
The issues are there. Gov. Greg Abbott butchered the handling of the pandemic. He bungled the Big Freeze and a few hundred died. He is part of the Big Lie. He leads on supporting racist voter suppression legislation. He threatened the legislative branch. He was just endorsed by Donald Trump. What else do we need?
Whoever decides to run against Abbott has to run right at him.
Let’s see. The front page of the hard copy of today’s Chron has a lead story on the racist voter suppression SB 7. The E-Board take today is on SB 7. Erica Grieder’s column today is on SB 7. Same thing for Chris Tomlinson’s column on the front page of today’s Chron Business Section.
Now some GOP State Legislators are saying early voting on Sunday should have started at 11 am and not 1 pm. They say there was a typo in SB 7. That’s hilarious. They never mentioned the typo during the debate this past weekend. Keep at them.
Plus, we are still making national news. Keep it up.
Sigh. From today’s online Chron:
Another female Precinct 1 deputy constable has sued Constable Alan Rosen and two subordinates, claiming she was sexually exploited while participating in “bachelor party” sting operations.
Jasmine Huff is the fifth current or former employee of the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office to raise concerns about the agency’s Human Trafficking Task Force, and the latest blow to Rosen, one of the county’s highest profile local lawmen. The accusations undermine his efforts to win an appointment from county commissioners to replace Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, who President Joseph Biden recently nominated to lead U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Accusations undermine his efforts to win an appointment from county commissioners to replace Sheriff Ed Gonzalez” is an understatement. This isn’t good. He has been seriously tarnished.
The Astros won last night as Yordan and Yuli returned to the lineup.
