42 Days

You know it is going to be one of those days when “Today” was replaced by the local news.

As Paul Simon says:

I get the news I need on the weather report
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report.

Looks like parts of the H-Town area will flood. Again.

Stay safe.

42 days until Election Day.

Early Voting in Person starts in three weeks.

My mail ballot should be arriving any day now.

The first presidential debate is a week from tonight.

The Chron E-Board endorsed State Rep. Sarah Davis today.

A couple of years ago, I was a panelist discussing the 2018 election.  A GOP consultant I respect mentioned then GOP candidate Dan Crenshaw and referred to him as a “rock star.” He won his election then gained notoriety when he went on “SNL.”  I actually thought the fella might have the potential to be something special. Nope.  He is just a typical GOP clown these days.  Just go look at today’s Chron.  What a clown.

Don’t believe the BS that the Supreme Court vacancy fight is going to rile up Donald Trump supporters.  Everyone is already riled up.  Turnout is going to be up on both sides.  The difference between 2016 and 2020 is that a lot of our voters aren’t staying home like they did in 2016.

Mitch McConnell and the GOP senators are going to fill the vacancy because they know they are fixing to lose control of the U.S. Senate.  They don’t have a choice but to move forward.  They have to get something on their way out of the door.

Like Commentary said yesterday, a Democratic rout is definitely in the cards.   There is more energy out there for us than there was in 2018.

Larry Dierker is 74 today.    Dierker made his pitching debut on this day, his 18th birthday, in 1964 at Colt Stadium against the Giants.  There were three future Hall of Famers in that game.  Joe Morgan with the Colt 45s and Willie Mays and Orlando Cepeda with the Giants.  Dierker struck out Mays and Cepeda went yard on him.  Happy Birthday, Wrangler!

Carlos Correa is celebrating his 26th birthday today.  Happy Birthday, Carlos!

I said yesterday that we were in good shape for the AL sixth seed for the playoffs.  It is not a sure thing though.

We lost last night.
