On Presidents’ Day

Today is Presidents’ Day. Instead of the MLB question, I will ask Presidential questions. How many Presidents were born in February and name and the day, please? Which month has the most Presidential birthdays? Name the only President with a Fourth of July birthday? Do all 12 months have a Presidential birthday?

Yesterday, the Chron E-Board endorsed Sen. Amy Klobuchar for president and Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg for re-election.

Early Voting in Person starts tomorrow and if you live in the Heights area and vote early at the SPJST Lodge on Beall Street, I have new for you.  The Lodge won’t be open this campaign season.  You are going to have to go to the Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church at 2025 West 11th Street, 77008.  That is off of TC Jester and W. 11th.  Got it?

The Chron had a story yesterday on the fundraising abilities of Harris County Precinct 2 Constable Chris Diaz. Since taking office in 2013, he’s collected $185,000 from his employees in campaign contributions. It is not a very pretty story. Will it impact his re-election bid? We will find out two weeks from tomorrow night. It did make the front page of the Sunday Chron and I am pretty sure there are some Chron subscribers who vote in the Democratic Party primary in Constable Precinct 2.

During campaign season, I am regularly asked if a Chron E-Board endorsement will have an impact on an election. My response is usually along the line of if you subscribe to the Chronicle, you are probably a voter and leave it at that.

The Trib has a Political Pick’em Contest. Here are the questions and some of my guesses:

Who will get the most votes in the Democratic Presidential Primary in Texas?

Bernie Sanders.

Who will get the most votes in the Democratic U.S. Senate Primary in Texas?

MJ Hegar.

Who will get the second most votes in the Democratic U.S. Senate Primary in Texas?

Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez.

Who will get the most votes in the Republican U.S. House District 7 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know or maybe former Bellaire Mayor Cindy Siegel.

Who will get the most votes in the Republican U.S. House District 13 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know.

Who will get the most votes in the Republican U.S. House District 17 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know.

Who will get the most votes in the Republican U.S. House District 23 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know.

Who will get the most votes in the Democratic U.S. House District 28 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know.

Who will get the most votes in the Democratic Texas Senate District 19 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know.

Who will get the most votes in the Democratic Texas Senate District 27 Primary in Texas?

I don’t know.

Tie-breaker: How many Texans will vote in the March primary?

I am working on this one.

Feel free to help me out on my contest answers.

R.G. has a real good take on Clayton Williams who died this past weekend. You need to read it here: https://www.texasmonthly.com/news/clayton-williams-oilman-politician-dies/.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said yesterday the Astros apology was “not successful.” What the heck does that mean?

The Commissioner also said he thought about taking away our World Series rings. F_ck him! F_ck him! I was there for three of the games. He wants to take away Game 5. What a moron. He’s going to take away our parade too. Dumbarse. He would be better off trying to fix baseball’s f_cked up economics where teams in New York and LA have kazillions to spend on payrolls and don’t get rings while other teams sell beer at exorbitant prices and struggle to get by. He’s a nitwit. Do something meaningful.

We haven’t even played a Spring Training game and things are already smoking. Commentary is talking about Carlos Correa’s interview with MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal this past Saturday. I will hand it to Correa for defending what little honor we have these days.

Here is our mindset. If you are still with the team, get used to the fact that it’s us versus the rest of MLB this season. Commentary can handle that.

Ronald Reagan (2/6), William Henry Harrison (2/9), Abraham Lincoln (2/12) and George Washington (2/22) are the 4 Presidents with February birthdays. October leads with 6 Presidential birthdays. Calvin Coolidge has a Fourth of July birthday. Every month of the year has a Presidential birthday, of course, of course, of course and of course. Now you know.

Have a nice Presidents’ Day!
