We had the swearing-in ceremony for State Representative Anna Eastman, House District 148, late yesterday afternoon at Waltrip High School. State Senator Carol Alvarado administered the Oath of Office. State Senator and the Dean of the Texas Senate John Whitmire served as Master of Ceremony. H-Town Mayor Sylvester Turner attended and spoke.
The Northside High School Choir did a very nice rendition of the National Anthem. The Waltrip ROTC did the Posting of the Colors, Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag. The Waltrip Jazz Band provided pre-ceremony music.
It was well attended with over 100 folks.
You can now call her State Representative Anna Eastman.
FYI: The Dean is a 1968 graduate of Waltrip High and five years later became a member of the Texas House of Representatives. Now you know.
Afterwards, we gathered at Karbach Brewery for grub and stuff.
The Chron E-Board endorsed today in 16 local appeals court and district judicial races in the Democrat Party Primary. Go fetch a copy to see who got endorsed. The E-Board also said they were not endorsing in constable, county courts of law and JP races.
For those who subscribe to the Chron, have you noticed Mike Bloomberg’s full-page ads. He’s had a bunch the past week or so.
Convince me. How does former Vice President Joe Biden place fifth in New Hampshire and still be viable? Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s fourth place finish also doesn’t bode well.
I may be wrong, but it looks like it is down to Bernie, Mayor Pete, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Mike Bloomberg.
