Dome Pool

The U.S. House Judiciary Committee will vote to impeach Donald Trump today. He deserves it. He asked for it. The GOP continues to ignore the facts and the law. The sad state of the GOP these days.

I just got informed that the price of the Chronicle just went up for us folks who get it delivered the old school way. From $15.75/week to $17/week. Oh, well.

Here is what the Chron told me in the letter they sent me announcing their price hike:

“Because of you, we are able to bring you the latest news, exclusive investigations, and ground-breaking stories.”

In today’s Chron, there is a ground-breaking story on some architect’s proposal to build a swimming pool on top of the Astrodome. Here is the ground-breaking Dome pool story: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/An-architect-s-dream-a-swimming-pool-on-the-14900196.php.

Sigh.  A pool on top of the Dome.  I just can’t see Judge Lina Hidalgo cutting the ribbon for a new pool on top of the Dome.  Just can’t.

Tomorrow is the runoff for the City of H-Town, HISD and HCC races. It has been a pretty uneventful runoff season. Tony Buzbee made a lot of noise in Round One but fizzled out in the runoff. Will there be any surprises tomorrow night? It depends on what your definition of a surprise is. Do some of the GOPers hold on to At-Large Council seats. Does the son of an Emmy Awards winning former TV investigative journalist win At-Large because of his last name? Stay tuned!

Siete Family Foods sent me a package yesterday. It included Dairy Free Chipotle BBQ Tortilla Chips, Dip Chips, Jalapeno Lime Chips, Mini Buñuelos Cinnamon Crisps, Coffee Beans, a Siete Apron, a couple of Siete Coffee Christmas Mugs, and the Siete Family Christmas Tunes Playlist. Nice.

“Little Drummer Boy” is a Commentary favorite. It was originally titled “Carol of the Drum” by Katherine Kennicott Davis, an American, in 1940. It was first recorded by the Trapp Family Singers. It has also been recorded by a number of big name artists including Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis, Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Five, Brady Bunch, Mannheim Steamroller and Vanessa Williams, to name a few. Even Ringo Starr and Zimmerman have recorded it. Commentary’s latest favorite of the tune is the video by Pentatonix.
