Early Vote Last Day

The Chron has a story today on TEA investigators recommending temporarily replacing the HISD School Board. Here is the story:

Commentary has a question. A couple of HISD Trustees are not seeking reelection. Another two are. If one or two of them get beat next week, would TEA cut HISD some slack and let them continue with new Trustees? Just asking.

Commentary doesn’t need to tell folks that we are behind turnout levels of the 2015 H-Town City elections. I have no idea why. The intern, Hotze, I don’t know.
Go vote today on the last day of Early Voting in Person.

Royko sent me this on my take yesterday:

When you leave so many runners on base, you failed.

In 2017, the Astro’s seemed to have had the same confidence as the Nats had; that they could find a way to bring runners home when they had to.

I also attribute the Nats victory to them having the support of the President. The Astro’s were Trumped by the team who had the endorsement of President Trump.

Trump is a winner, and he surrounds himself with winners. It is said that the truth has no agenda.

Don’t tell Royko that Donald Trump was booed big time by Nats fans at Game 5 in their own crib. Don’t tell Royko that at the Game 7 watch event at Nats Park a couple of nights ago, a Trump commercial aired during the game and it was booed big time.

Hunter Atkins of the Chron has piece about Gerrit Cole and here is the most awesome line:

In the regular and postseason combined, Cole went 24-6 with a 2.39 ERA and 373 strikeouts in 249 innings.

373 strikeouts!

Sign him up for a multi-year gig. He wants to be here.

It is the first day of November and I am not going to worry about what our starting rotation will look like on Opening Day. Afterall, I got elections, maybe runoffs, primaries, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day to deal with first.
