We have played 67 games and have only used five different starting pitchers. Name the only other MLB team to use five different starting pitchers this season?

Here is some of what State Rep. Carol Alvarado had to say at today’s State Board of Education Meeting:

A few weeks ago, Board Member David Bradley said:
“I find hyphenated Americanism to be divisive.”

A century ago former President Teddy Roosevelt said:
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism.”
And warned of “a tangle of squabbling nationalities.”

At around the same time then President Woodrow was a bit more colorful when he said:
“Any man who carries a hyphen about with him carries a dagger that he is ready to plunge into the vitals of this Republic.”

America obviously did not pay heed to hyphenated Americanism destroying our great nation.

We are taught in our public schools that in 1960, we elected a president who was proud of his Irish American heritage and in 2008, we elected a president who embraced his African American culture.

Look at our own state government policy.

On the official website of our own Governor Abbott, there is a page on how to qualify for the Historically Underutilized Business Certification Program (HUB), and says:

“To obtain HUB certification, a business must be at least 51% owned by an Asian Pacific American, Black American, Hispanic American, Native American and/or American woman and as a result of the recent legislative session now service-rendered disabled veterans are considered a minority for purposes of the HUB Program.”

This is from the independent non-profit Texas State Historical Association, that has been around since 1897:
In 1965 Mexican Americans founded the Mexican-American Advisory Committee within the Republican Party of Texas.

And this from the same notation:
Mexican American Republicans of Texas was organized in 1972 as an official auxiliary of the state Republican party to promote Mexican-American interests.

This state’s Republican Party promoted the Mexican American term and this assemblage of citizens over a half century ago.

Everyone in this room supports our military, right?

Visit the website of our U.S. Army and you will find a page titled:
Hispanic-American Medal of Honor recipients

By the way, there are over 60 Hispanic-American Medal of Honor recipients.

And this:

I respectfully request that the Ethnic Studies course be renamed back to Mexican American Studies. Thank you.

Commentary doesn’t think much of Sen. Ted Cruz and neither should you. This is from the Dallas Morning News:

WASHINGTON – Sen. Ted Cruz defended the Trump administration’s policy of separating parents from children when they’re caught crossing the border illegally, saying that while such cases can be tragic, it’s “inevitable” when people violate U.S. law.

“There’s actually a court order that prevents keeping the kids with the parents when you put the parents in jail. So when you see reporters, when you see Democrats saying don’t separate kids from their parents, what they’re really saying is don’t arrest illegal aliens,” Cruz told KERA, the Dallas public radio station, in an interview that aired Monday afternoon.

What do the rest of the GOP elected officials in these parts think?

I like GOP talking head Alice Stewart for the most part, she doesn’t operate with the GOP daily talking points and she doesn’t have her head up Donald Trump’s arse. But…, well, see this tweet:

Liberal elites applaud foul-mouthed Meet the Fockers star and shame Twitter CEO for eating @ChickfilA #hypocrites

They are separating families! What part of this cruelty do you not get?

Meet the Fockers? How about “Godfather, Part II”, “Raging Bull”, “Taxi Driver”, “Cape Fear”, and “The Deer Hunter” and on and on. And on the Twitter fella, all I can say is no holds barred, baby! I also don’t consider myself a “liberal elite.” Liberal will do just fine.

BTW: Eat Chick-Fil-A at your own risk.

Now this is cool from the Texas Rangers:

Friday, June 29 vs. White Sox – 7:05 p.m.

Join us as we pay tribute to the Fab Four from Liverpool, England. Purchase through this special link and receive a Beatles themed Texas Rangers cap. Come early for a pre-game live performance from a Beatles tribute band on the west side of the ballpark, and then stay for a postgame fireworks show set to the Beatles hit songs.

The ‘Stros have done Star Wars, Faith Night, Bayou Bash, and Pinot in the Park. It is definitely time for Beatles at The Yard. I’d love a cool Beatles lid in the blue and orange.

The Rockies of course have played 65 games and have used five different starting pitchers.

We get back in action in Oakland this evening and are a half-game back.
