Traci Jensen, candidate for State Board of Education (SBOE), District 6, was endorsed yesterday by the Texas Freedom Network (TFN). In a letter to Jensen informing her of their endorsement, TFN said “thank you again for your support for religious freedom, civil liberties and strong public schools.”
In a letter to TFN members and supporters, TFN said:
“We hope our endorsements not only help you to make informed decisions at the ballot box, but also inspire you to help the campaigns of those candidates for office who truly support the ideals we all share: a commitment to religious freedom, individual liberties and strong public schools.”
“I am grateful to receive the support of the Texas Freedom Network,” said Jensen. “For the past seventeen years, TFN has led the effort to take on a politically-motivated SBOE who continue to abuse their power. The language arts, science and social studies curricula are examples of the board’s dismissal of educators and experts’ judgments in order to propel their own right wing ideology” added Jensen.
“TFN’s endorsement is highly valued in that it expands our growing campaign as we work to bring respectability to Texas education, end divisive rhetoric and put ALL Texas school children ahead of politics and ideology,” continued Jensen.

The DREAMers continue to play a role in the campaign for Prez as Romney told a Colorado news outlet yesterday that he’s kind of changing his tune when it comes to undoing The President’s deferred actions. Way to go DREAMers for getting Romney to flop and flip!
A study was released yesterday detailing the positive impact to the U.S. and Texas economies by DREAMers. Check out this from the Texas Tribune:
Granting legal status and paving the way to citizenship for an estimated 2.1 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. would generate approximately $329 billion in economic impact by 2030, according to a report released Monday. The study also says that Texas itself would see an impact of $66 billion.
The report, a joint effort by the progressive Center for American Progress and the Partnership for a New American Economy, estimates that passing the DREAM Act, which would allow certain undocumented immigrants brought to the country at a young age to work and apply for residency, would generate that revenue total through a combination of wages, tax contribution and increased spending.

With two games remaining in the regular season, Tiger Miguel Cabrera is in the driver’s seat to win the Triple Crown. He leads in batting average with .329, in dingers with 44, and in RBIs with 137. Name the players that trail him in each category?
I don’t know if I agree with H-Town City Attorney Feldman on CM Helena Brown’s city purchased magnets as being political advertising. Where do you draw the line? Here is a bit from the Chron:
The magnets include a photograph of Brown and her office phone number, email address and postal address.
What makes the magnets political advertising in Feldman’s opinion, is the inclusion of "language declaring, in demonstrative print and exclamation, her dedication and priorities as an office holder," he wrote to Brown’s attorney.
The magnets tout Brown’s "DEDICATION to… 1. Timely Constituent Response! Our #1 priority; 2. Responsible City Spending! 3. Standing up for residents, businesses, and for what is right and just!"

CM Brown has asked for an opinion from the Texas Ethics Commission. The City Attorney should have just left it alone instead of risking opening a can of worms.
The H-Town Texans go to New Jersey next Monday night to face the Jets. Here is from a story yesterday on Bloomberg.com:
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson said seeing Mitt Romney win the U.S. presidential election is a higher priority than his team finishing the National Football League season with a winning record.
Johnson, New York chairman for the Romney campaign, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television’s “Market Makers” that if forced to choose between the two, he’d pick a win by the Republican challenger over President Barack Obama on Nov. 6.
What else is Woody going to say? The Texans are 7 ½ point favorites this Monday night and his Jets don’t have a QB this season.
If you ask diehard H-Town Texans fans today if forced to choose if they would rather have the Texans win the Super Bowl this year or Mitt Romney win The White House, we will all be wearing steel blue state jerseys on Election Night! Go Texans!
BTW: Hall of Fame QB great John Elway endorsed Romney yesterday in Colorado. Elway now runs the Broncos – yes, the same Broncos that got beat by the Texans last week.
The Harris County Clerk put out a press release yesterday announcing that Clear Channel had donated 40 billboards reminding folks to vote early. Harris County Commissioner Steve Radack participated in the photo-op unveiling the billboards. I wonder why they didn’t ask a Dem official to participate in the photo-op. Today, Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart and Harris County Commissioner Steve Radack in partnership with Clear Channel VP Lee Vela, unveiled a countywide billboard campaign promoting early voting among the 1.95 million registered voters in the nation’s third largest voting jurisdiction. The initiative is scheduled to run for 30 days, leading up to and beyond the beginning of the early voting period.
The mail ballot application folks read Commentary because as of yesterday in Harris County, 58,750 have requested mail ballots with 23,929 generated by the GOP and 8,698 by Dems.
