As of yesterday in Harris County, 51,697 had requested mail ballots with 21,771 GOP generated and 16,910 Dem generated.  Not bad at all!

A foodie war of sorts is brewing over at H-Town City Hall.  The food truck association wants restrictions eased so they can invade the streets of Downtown H-Town.  A few of them addressed City Council yesterday.  They are getting a lesson in City Hall politics.  This one is going to get interesting so you better stay tuned!

Who will be the first NL team we face next season?

The Chron E-Board rolled out their first set of criminal court endorsements today so check them out here.

It turns out my old pal Jay Root of the Texas Tribune is a comedy writer.  He’s penned an e-book about Guv Dude’s run for Prez.  You can check out excerpts at the Texas Tribune.

Remember when Dems were less enthused about voting than the GOP earlier this year.  Remember when the Tea Party dominated in 2010.  The latest polls in battleground states like Florida and Ohio have The President leading.  What happened?  We ought to know in about four weeks if that enthusiasm has caught on here locally.

Traci Jensen once again did A-Okay yesterday at an educator event.  Over 100 folks attended.  She won over more supporters.

One of my favorite crooners is no longer with us.  Andy Williams left us yesterday.  His signature tune of course was the Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer “Moon River” from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” which won the Best Song Oscar.  Andy Williams also used to have a TV show that introduced us to the Osmonds.    Commentary has a couple of Andy Williams Christmas CDs that I’ll be listening to later on this year.

Moon river, wider than a mile
I’m crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you’re going, I’m going your way
Two drifters, off to see the world, there’s such a lot of world to see
We’re after the same rainbow’s end, waiting round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river and me.

I guess H-Town still reads Commentary as more folks attended last night’s game at The Yard – 16,000 and change.  Maybe they wanted to see H-Town CM James Rodriguez present Jose Altuve with his “Jose Altuve Day Proclamation.”

The Pirates of course will be the first NL team the ‘Stros face in 2013 – Friday, May 17.

Commentary will be doing a Channel 11 interview today about the last NL day at The Yard.

Tonight is the last night to see the ‘Stros at The Yard in NL gear and the last time you can go by and say adios to Milo and maybe Brownie.  They will hand out team posters and J.R. Richard Bobbleheads this evening.
