It is no secret that H-Town probably averages the lowest voter turnout of any city in today’s worldwide civilization.  Tomorrow we get another chance to demonstrate to the world that we don’t give a rat’s arse about voting.  Heck more folks went to pay big bucks last Sunday at Reliant to watch the Texans than will vote in the run-off this weekend.  Now that’s a darn shame!

Instead of beautification, a new fancy slogan to lure tourists, or a blue ribbon commission on future growth, maybe we ought to put together and fund a civic project to get more folks to the polls.  We’re going to elect 23.5% of our next City Council tomorrow with less than 10% of the voters participating.  Hey, let’s go put that on the Convention and Visitors Bureau brochure!

Let’s see now!  We’re the energy capitol of the world.  We have the best medical facilities in the universe.  We have the worst voter turnout on the planet.  Pat ourselves on the back when we watch the returns come in tomorrow evening!

If folks win that aren’t to our liking, we have nobody to blame but ourselves.

I got a Planned Parenthood Action Fund mailer yesterday supporting Kristi Thibaut in At-Large 2 and CM Jolanda Jones in At-Large 5 and slapping Andrew Burks and Jack Christie.

Who made the final out for the ‘stros in Game 4 of the 2005 World Serious which was also our last play-off appearance?

Commentary got Tessa Goth Rudolphy’s Christmas card yesterday and once again it’s a good one.  This time it’s a take on the White Album – cool.

The good news is we don’t have to face Albert Pujols this year when we play San Luis. The bad news is in 2013, we will be in the AL West Division with the Angels and Pujols.

Pinch hitter Orlando Palmeiro of course grounded out to shortstop in the bottom of the ninth to end Game 4 of the 2005 World Serious.

The ‘Stros new GM kind of told us yesterday to show some patience because it is going to take a while to get back to where we once belong. I don’t mind waiting if they will just lower the price of a St. Arnold!
