Once again, Mendenhall Sosa in District A led the pack on early voting turnout yesterday.  West Gray came in second.  Locations that cater to African American and GOP voters are also looking respectable.  I can’t figure out who this helps in the Thibaut/Burks run-off.  One thing is for sure.  All four At-Large campaigns are pretty much ignoring the Latino vote even though I did get a robo call from the Thibaut campaign last night.  Including today, we have five more days of early voting.

The Chron E-Board endorsed Alvin Byrd today for District B.  Check it out here.

The Chron has a piece on Thibaut/Burks today. Check it out here.

Former ‘Stro Darryl Kile would be 43 today if he were still around.  On September 8, 1993, DK threw a 7-1 no-no against the Mets at the Dome.   A Hall of Fame great was in the starting line-up for the Mets that day.  Who am I talking about?

Best line from an article today:

"I did not think I had lived a good enough life to be rewarded by Newt Gingrich being the Republican nominee," retiring liberal Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said this week. "It still is unlikely, but I have hopes."

Nothing really new on the candidate filing front other than to say that the fella that filed in the Dem Harris County Constable Precinct 6 race is Gilbert Reyna not Rey – got it?

There still isn’t a HD 134 Dem candidate.

I’m hearing there are still a couple of Dem filing surprises in the works so you better stay tuned!

Hall of Fame great Eddie Murray of course was the starting first baseman for the Mets on September 8, 1993 and went 0 for 3 against DK.

A ‘Stros insider told me yesterday that UH Coach Kevin Sumllin would not be interviewed for the ‘Stros Skipper position and that’s all I have from The Yard!
