There isn’t a whole lot you can say about a 44 vote loss out of 2,063 folks that went to the polls in the HISD Trustee District VIII run-off.  Of course there is a whole lot you can say about a 44 vote loss but what is the point other than congrats to the other side.

 I’m sure Commentary’s critics will just pile on so go on ahead.

 Lessons learned for sure.  It was close though.

 This Baseball Hall of Famer was inducted into the Hall as a skipper in 1983 and only had one at-bat as a Major Leaguer in 1936.  Who am I talking about?

 Speaking of elections, a story in today’s Chron can have some folks thinking that the City of H-Town is looking to forget about the fact that the voters said no to the red light cameras last month.  Check it out:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7318259.html.  I don’t know about that.  I would think that the City would want to get in front of the voters and take down the cameras.  The City needs to do a better job of ‘splaining their latest moves in court.

 Walter Alston of course had a three strike at-bat back in 1936 as a Cardinal against the Cubbies.   Walter Alston was a long time Dodger skipper from 1954-1976 who won four World Seriouses.  Walter Alston is no longer with us and was born 99 years ago today. 

 The ‘Stros signed Quintero to a one-year deal and that’s all I have from The Yard.
