Last week some of us were taken by surprise when HISD Trustee Diana Davila abruptly resigned from the Board of Education. Well it looks like the first candidate to succeed her has emerged. UH-Downtown Political Science Professor Adolfo Santos is expressing an interest in replacing Davila. Santos’ resume is being passed around by respected H-Town Latino business and professional leaders. In recent years, Santos has regularly submitted Op-Eds for publication to the Chron. Stay tuned!
41’s grandson and 43’s nephew, George P. Bush, is today kicking off his Hispanic Republicans of Texas group to get more Latinos to vote for GOPers. First of all, he should have called his group Latino Republicans of Texas or Tejano Republicans. The President will be in the Lone Star State on August 9 to do some fundraising for Dems. That will give Guv Dude the opportunity to rail against the federal government. That’s why the Former H-Town Mayor won’t be anywhere near The President.
Lou Pinella is the current Cubbie skipper. He played on two World Serious Championship teams as a Yankee in 1977 and 1978. He also managed a World Serious Champion. Who and when?
The campaign for Governor here in the Lone Star State is getting mean and meaner. There are accusations of lying, hiding, influence peddling, and sneaky business deals. Keep it up, I say. It could help voter turnout.
Lou Pinella managed the Reds in 1990 of course to a four game sweep of the A’s.
It is always fun to see the ‘Stros get off to an 8-0 start after three innings. It makes the evening a lot more pleasant. It got a little dicey though when it was 8-5 through six last night. Skipper Mills changed the line-up a bit with Numero 45 in the five-hole and Keppinger in the six-hole. You never know until you never know as we take on the Cubbies again this evening.
