We wake up celebrating the first anniversary of the Obama Presidency mourning the loss of Ted Kennedy’s U.S. Senate seat to a republican.  This is a bad omen for sure in light of the fact that nearly two years ago Senator Kennedy endorsed Obama and helped change the direction of the race for president.

Since Dems lost Massachusetts, what makes us think we can win anything statewide in 2010 in the Lone Star State?  Same thing goes for our local countywide candidates here in Harris County.

The President now needs to take the lead and turn this thing around.  If he leaves it up to the Democratic leaders in congress to fix things, we’re screwed big time.  There is too much at stake for him to leave it up to Speaker Pelosi or Majority Leader Reid and those bozos around them.

The GOP can now claim they go the Big Mo.  You know what?  On January 20, 2010 – they do.

The President said yesterday that ISDs in the Lone Star State can go after federal funds.  Here’s part of what he said: “it will also expand the Race to the Top competition to include local school districts that are also committed to change so innovative districts like the one (HISD) in Texas whose reform efforts are being stymied by state decision-makers will soon have the chance to earn funding to help them pursue those reforms.”

That’s pretty cool that he gave a shout out to HISD.   HISD to Guv Dude – Shut Up!  Of course, I’d like to see a debate between Dude and HISD Trustee Anna Eastman on going after the money..
