A couple of very disturbing articles today and Sunday in the Chron are about the City of H-Town creeping into the immigration enforcement business. Check them out: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/special/immigration/6526211.html  and  http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/special/immigration/6523349.html.  This is a road we don’t need to travel. Commentary is really disappointed. When we see where paperless folks don’t come forward and report crimes because they don’t want to have anything to do with authorities, don’t say I didn’t tell you so. When we see where folks don’t participate in the 2010 Census because they don’t want to have anything to do with authorities, don’t say I didn’t tell you so. This will certainly be brought up at this Saturday’s Houston Area Latino Summit Mayoral Debate at Minute Maid Park. The candidates better be ready.

There was also an article in the Chron yesterday on the woes of the local GOP. Check it out.  The good news for the local GOP is the local Dems aren’t doing a darn thing or give a rat’s arse about getting more Latinos engaged in the political process.

Commentary like most Latino and Latina activists all over the country will be watching Judge Sotomayor today at her historic confirmation hearings this morning.

We are now at the All Star break and we are doing A-OK. We are at .500 and three and a half out – not bad at all. Miggy is batting .329 and leads the NL in hits (116). Numero 45 is batting .308, and All Star Pence is batting .298. The Big Puma is inching back and batting .271. Bourn has been outstanding and is batting .286 and leads the NL in stolen bases. We are contenders for sure.

At the All Star Game in San Luis tomorrow night, The President will throw out the first pitch to Albert Pujols – now that’s real cool.

Oh, by the way, Commentary scooped up Foul Ball Numero Ocho yesterday and handed it over to Dante for his collection.
