Commentary was at The Yard yesterday and in between innings they had a contest and Sweet Marisa asked a fella on the jumbotron which of the following was once a U.S. president and movie actor: Ronald Reagan, JFK, or Arnold Schwarzenegger. The fella picked JFK which is one darn good reason The President should tell the nation’s school kids to study and do their homework and learn something about our former presidents.
From the I’m Spending Too Much Time at The Yard Dept.: I never heard of this Van Jones fella until he quit yesterday.
The Chron and a bunch of local TV stations are reminding us about Ike this week. I prefer not to hear about spending 13 days without power and watching the ‘Stros play two up in Wrigley North.
Pam-In-Charge dropped a surprise in Commentary’s lap Friday night. She came down and gave me a new T-Shirt that is now selling at The Yard – “Los Astros Viven Beisbol.” I wore it yesterday and it is pretty cool.
Commentary forgot to mention that the ‘Stros went 12-16 in August. The Chron said we would go 12-16 in August and would be 67-64 heading into September. We were actually 63-68.
Speaking of, we’re not going to reach Cecil Puede’s goal of 90 wins this season because we would have to go 24-2 the rest of the way which is darn near impossible since we still have three left against the Cards and five against the Phillies – both first place teams – yikes! Speaking of, you got to hand it to the team for taking the first three against the Phillies and it was nice to see Lights Out Lidge blow one against us for a change.
